Simon tops the Singles - again!

Coaching Inn PC's Simon Penna won the Kernow Singles competition, held yesterday, 13 August, at the Star, St Day, taking the title for a fourth time.

Simon won the title last year and previously in 2012 and 2013 and now equals the four-wins record set by David Lynas more than 10 years ago.

Runner-up was Vogue PC's Andrew Jarvis, who lost to Simon 4-13 in a tense final. In the semi-finals Andrew beat Roy Pemberton (Coaching Inn) 13-8 and Simon beat Mark Hypponen (North Inn) 13-2.

Mark and Roy played off for third place, with Mark winning 13-4. The plate competition was won by Pete Lynas, with a 13-4 victory over Tim Dyke (Tregony PC) in the final.

Turnout for the event was very disappointing, with only 13 players taking part and too few women for a separate contest. Lena Daddow (Vogue PC) was the highest placed female player.

A big thankyou to Andrew Jarvis and Pete Lynas for their efforts in preparing the Star terrains.
